Prefix acidizing employs CO2 to precondition the formation so as to
reduce water stimulation, enhance oil stimulation, and reduce or
eliminate separation facility upsets. In essence, the CO2
preconditioner improves the effectiveness of the treatment and
eliminates many of the undesirable problems that frequently
accompany conventional acidizing. The economic benefits derived
from the process result from avoiding preferential water stimulation,
enhancing oil productivity, and eliminating terminal upsets.
